Parent as Coach



Designed to educate and guide parents in developing an effective framework to support the family and individual(s) impacted by ADHD and executive function challenges. Using evidence based principles it guides parents and carers by identifying  opportunities for greater success and understanding for both the ADHD child and family.

The Parent Coach Program is designed to provide parents/caregivers with education and tools to understand and support their child with ADHD. The aim of the course is to connect  understanding with  practical strategies that support the family where ADHD is a feature and a challenge. This includes a system for creating structure and stability in the home that can be carried out to school and other settings.

The 4 session   Parent as Coach  program provides the following key insights:

  • Understanding the underlying mechanisms of ADHD challenges
  • The role of behaviours through the lens of executive functions -Attention Management, Inhibition, Emotional regulation and Working Memory (time and information management).
  • Strategies for specific issues and general structure
  • Skills to make it work through implementation models, tools and practical exercises

The programs are provided as live, online sessions to provide easy access for you (no need for baby sitters!)  and are time efficient (no need to leave your home). The programs were developed with a family approach in mind.  ADHD is not just about the individual with the challenges, but rather the ecosystem of the family.

This is the last program for 2022.

FEE: $250 (incl GST) total for the 4 sessions:

Session 1.  – Understanding ADHD and executive function and how it affects your child or teen. Understanding the science behind it so it all makes sense.

Session 2 – Emotional and Social  Impact of ADHD-and how this affects the way your child/teen -Resilience, Motivation, Mindfulness. New insights on “the Fourth F”-Fibbing. Character strengths for adult and child.

Session 3:   –Your child /teen and ADHD at home-creating calm.  Systems for organisation, managing /importance of sleep, meals and stress. Sleep for both Parent and child.- The real world use of Mindfulness.

Session 4:   -Your child/teen and ADHD at school. Communication with the school and teacher.  Learning styles, Screen time.

The “Parent as ADHD Coach” program  has been very beneficial in providing us with a much better understanding of what the brain does, and how it manifests as ADD/ADHD.  This information has allowed us to take a step back and imagine how exciting, yet daunting the world must be to our 7 year old.  We are now better equipped to identify our son’s daily emotional challenges and are more patient with helping him transition between tasks.  We have also gained some useful strategies to help him (and the whole family) get through the mundane activities that form part of everyday life. Holly and Tom
